Elk jaar zijn er uitwisselingsstudenten op het Drachtster Lyceum. Ty Bradley uit Canada is één van hen en hij schreef voor de DigiMarge een verslag over zijn verwachtingen en ervaringen tot nu in Drachten.
Hello, I am Ty Bradley one of the new exchange students at Drachtster Lyceum. I came here from Canada about a month ago, and I am here for one year. I am attempting to learn Dutch, but I still struggle to understand most of what people say. I thought an exchange would be a great experience, as I get to experience another culture for a whole year and learn a new language. I think this year will really give me new points of view and make me a more well rounded person. So far my time at Drachtster Lyceum has been great. The other students in my classes have been very friendly, and have made my transition to a new school very easy. Throughout this year I hope to grow as a person and to learn about the Dutch culture.
My hometown is Halifax, a city of 500 000 people. It is in the province of Nova Scotia, on the east coast of Canada. So far the biggest difference between Drachten and Halifax has been that everyone rides bikes here, and not many people do in Halifax. My favourite new foods that I’ve tried here are hagelslag and Rivella, both of which don’t exist back home. This has been a great experience so far, and I am looking forward to the rest of this year.
